| About WIMS | ||||||||
| The
Wintergreen Interdistrict Magnet School (WIMS) opened on August 31, 1998
serving the communities of Hamden, New Haven, Wallingford and Woodbridge.
In its first year, approximately 320 kindergarten through fourth grade students
were selected through a lottery process to attend the school. There are
three classes of each grade level and the class sizes range from 20-23 students
per class. In the second year, grades 5-8 were added increasing the student
population to 536. Now in its tenth year, the student population has reached just over
600. WIMS is managed by the Area Cooperative Educational Services (ACES) and housed in a facility leased from the town of Hamden. The building was renovated and expanded in the first two years to accommodate the K-8 grade range. |
