The Wintergreen Interdistrict
Magnet School Parent Teacher Organization (WIMS PTO) provides a forum
for parents and teachers to work together to improve and sustain the educational
opportunities available at WIMS. The PTO promotes understanding and cooperation
between parents, children and school through an exchange of ideas. The
PTO fosters a greater WIMS community among students, families, and the
school through the sponsorship of events and activities.
The WIMS PTO raises money to supplement the students learning with
cultural enrichment, field trips, additional classroom materials, volunteers
and more. The fundraisers have been scheduled throughout the year, taking
care not to overlap.
The General PTO meetings are held on a regular basis. A number of meetings are designated as Speaker
Meetings with a presentation by an outside speaker on a subject of interest
to parents and families.
The PTO Leadership Committee manages the business and affairs of the organization.
The group is made up of 11 members, including the President, Vice-President,
Secretary and Treasurer. An additional representative from each of the
participating communities, Hamden, New Haven, Wallingford and Woodbridge,
and 3 appointed representatives from the school are members of the Leadership
Committee. The Leadership Committee meets monthly preceding the PTO Meeting
