The 8th Grade Trip to Washington
- Last years 8th graders raved about their trip to Washington DC.
The tentative dates for the eighth grade trip to Washington, D.C. are June 20-22. Every year the grade 8 class visits the Lincoln, Jefferson, and FDR Memorials and the Vietnam and Korean War Memorials. The following day plenty of time is allowed for the multitude of museums including the Smithsonian Institution. The final day includes a visit to Arlington National Cemetery, with its Tomb of the Unknowns and President Kennedy's gravesite.
The 7th Grade trip to Boston
Each year the 7th grade class takes a trip to Boston. They participate in a walking tour of Boston along the Freedom Trail with guides who are dressed in historical attire. Students enjoy lunch at Faneuil Hall Market Place. Afterwards they visit the Science Museum; highlighted by interactive exhibits on the human body, future of genetics and the Lightning Show.

The 5th Grade trip to the BIG E
Each year the 5th grade classes have been invited to attend the BIg E to sing songs about Connecticut. At one time, WIMS was very fortunate to have a Composer in residence named Carmino Ravosa. He wrote 11 songs about the history of Connecticut, the Connecticut River, Harriet Beecher Stowe and other important facts about our great state. Our students learn these songs each year and sing them for audiences at the Big E.
School Wide Intensive Program
- This year's intensive program focused on the The Snow Ball Parte Dos: Dancing through the Ages.
Students and teachers focused on dancing from the 1920s to the 2000s. The dance was a culmination of a two month unit where kindergarten through eighth graders studied the history behind the dances and what life was like during that decades.
